Jonathan Dingle is a leading senior barrister, arbitrator and mediator, who enjoys tough and complex cases, especially involving international matters, construction, insurance law, the Armed Forces, and civil procedure.  Now retired from commercial mediation training, but still working as a mediator, and in pro bono work, he has been commended in a string of awards for his mediation work worldwide most recently in Johannesburg with the Association of Abitrators of Southern Africa. 

He is an approved mediator for NHS Litigation Authority Clinical Negligence, Costs, and Personal Injury cases for 2016 to 2018, and winner of the 2016 Mediation Achiever of the Year award for personal Injury. 

A natural port of call for those troubled by complex or seemingly intractable disputes on any scale, Jonathan brings more than three decades of experience, and complete neutrality and integrity to every mediation.  
He excels as a neutral who assists in reconciling individuals, corporations, or nations through a mix of intellect, charm, empathy, experience, patience and tireless energy, anywhere around the globe.  As a mediator, recent cases have including multi-million pound insurance disputes, costs, tort and complex construction cases worldwide.

He describes himself as privileged to work in a mix of vocations all of which offer enormous satisfaction.  These include the law, where as a barrister specialising in tort cases of complexity in all the common law jurisdictions he is widely instructed.  He is happy to discuss cases, problems, and training at any time (although he does not accept Direct Public Access instructions in his Bar Practice).

Legal Experience:
Called as a barrister in 1986 (Middle Temple). Joint Head of Chambers at Clerksroom. Former Judge Advocate. Legal Member POAC. A leading barrister in personal injury and clinical negligence claims. Instructed equally by Claimant and Defendant firms since 1996. The only junior to lead in the CFA Test Cases he has a string of reported cases and high CICA awards.

Mediation Experience:
Jonathan first trained in 1977 and has been at the heart of UK and world mediation since 1998. He brings unique experience having seen thousands of cases at mediation. He was the Founder of the UK’s Civil Mediation Council with Sir Brian Neill in 2002, and served for eight years as the General Secretary of what became the leading body for civil mediation in the UK under Lord Gordon Slynn and Sir Henry Brooke. Founder of Trust Mediation.
Jonathan has mediated or arbitrated numerous costs, insurance, injury, tort, and multi-party mediations with up to 140 groups and 18,000 participants, and co-mediated the TAG cases, complex sensitive issues, and various group actions with 36 to 120 lead claimants.  
Jonathan is regularly instructed as a mediator by the whole alphabet of UK solicitors. He directs and leads the world-class training at the Society of Mediators and is a mediation Trustee.

Other information:
Based in London, Jonathan is a former Commander in the Royal Navy who served in the Gulf War; he gained diverse technical knowledge and experience in ships, helicopters, and operations. He chairs the Football League Disciplinary Panel, is a yacht master, adventure motorcyclist, driver of ancient motor cars, and a mischievious grandfather of three poggly boys.
